Ricks Canyon - Steel Hollow Loop, 6 June, 2021
Eleven hikers, Susan, Dave P., Ralph, Joan, Jane, Dave W., Laurel, Chris, Teresa, Bryan and Brent (trip leader) set out on Sunday morning to enjoy a hike up Ricks Canyon and down Steel Hollow.
We left the trailhead under sunny skies and temperatures in the low 50's. We ascended Ricks Canyon to Marie Springs road where we stopped for lunch in a shady spot. After lunch four hikers went back down Rick Canyon while the rest continued on the loop hike. We were surprised by the number of motorcyles, ATV's and Utv's that passed us as the road was still closed to motorized travel. We walked the road and then descended into Steel Hollow which although open to motorcycles, had no traffic.
We enjoyed warm temperatures, sunny skies, patches of shade and plentiful wildflowers.
Thanks to Brent for the narrative and photos, Dave W. and Susan for photos, and Ralph for photos and GPS data.
