Description

Trailhead access has changed significanty with development of the the Cherry Peak resort. This is the situation in fall 2018: Begin by driving to Cherry Hill Resort (from US 91 in Cache Valley, turn east on east on Main Street in Richmond, then north at 300 East, east at 500 North and follow the road to the Cherry Hill parking lot). Travel north past the resort building to a gravel parking area on the right with a green "Trailhead Park Your Vehicle Here" sign at the east end. Fill out the trailhead register and head east up the gravel path that soon turns into a gravel road for a short distance before turning back into a path ("No Trespassing" signs along the way are meant to keep you on the path). About 1/3 mile from the trailhead there is a Forest Service sign "TR 024, CHERRY CREEK, JCT NAOMI NRT 5.4 mi.", The trail travels along the creek, turning toward the southeast , then switching back to the northeast at 3.7 miles as it ascends the Cherry Creek ridge.   The trail passes below Cherry Peak at mile 4.8 and joins FR 005 (the Mt. Naomi NRT) in a meadow at mile 5.5.  From here you can travel north to High Creek or south to Mt. Naomi or Tony Grove.
