2024 Winter Activity Schedule
 
Winter trips are scheduled from January to mid-March. Visitors are welcome!

Meet 10:00 a.m.
at the southwest corner of the Smith's Marketplace parking lot at 750 North Main Street in Logan, Utah unless specified otherwise. The trip leader determines the anticipated return time and any need to alter plans, if necessary.

Prepare for the activity:
Bring food, water, and extra clothing. Make sure your equipment is adequate and that you have the skill and stamina necessary for the trip, and consider a donation for gas if carpooling. Trail crampons ("cleats" or "spikes") may be useful if conditions are not suitable for skis or snowshoes.

Snowshoe (or boot) on the Blacksmith Fork River Trail
The Cache Hikers will host a winter trip to Blacksmith Fork on Saturday. This is an easy snowshoe (or boot?) activity, about 5 miles round trip and 300 feet of elevation. Ski/Snowshoe at Green Canyon
  The Cache Hikers will host a winter trip at Green Canyon on Monday (New Year Day holiday). The Cache Hikers will host a winter trip to Sink Hollow and the Idaho Border on Sunday. The Cache Hikers will host a winter trip from the Logan Canyon “UDOT Sheds” on Sunday. Ski/Snowshoe in Wood Camp Hollow The Cache Hikers will host a winter trip to the North Fork of Wood Camp Hollow on Sunday. This is a moderate cross-country ski or snowshoe activity, mostly through open valley bottom, about 4 miles round trip and 800 feet of elevation, with an expected return about 3:00 p.m.

Snowshoe at Leatham Hollow
The Cache Hikers will host a snowshoe hike on Sunday up Leatham Hollow. It starts with a short hike from the first gate up the forest road to the trailhead, then up to the switchbacks. Ski/Snowshoe at White Pine Ridge
The Cache Hikers will host a winter trip to White Pine Ridge on Sunday. This is a moderately strenuous cross-country ski or snowshoe activity, about 5 miles round trip and 1200 feet of elevation gain as we explore terrain above White Pine Creek, with an expected return about 4:30 p.m.

Ski and Soak at Maple Grove Hot Springs The Cache Hikers will host a winter trip to Maple Grove Hot Springs on Sunday. This is an easy cross-country ski or snowshoe along the river, then soak in the hot pools. You must make an advance reservation (www.maplegrovesprings.com or (208) 425-6803, $18 general or $15 for 65+ or military). RSVP to Catherine (contact information at right). Bring: gas money (Maple Grove is a 50 mile ride each way), a swimsuit, towel, appropriate footwear and a side item for a chilli potluck.  Expected return about 5:00 p.m.

Snowshoe at Mill Hollow
The Cache Hikers will host a winter trip to Mill Hollow on Sunday. This moderate, 4.5-mile snowshoe hike follows the Spring Hollow, River, Bridger Look-Off, and Mill Hollow trails in a loop hike with a gain of about 1000 feet of elevation. Walk through aspens, firs, maples and meadows, with views of the China Wall cliffs and Logan Canyon, with an expected return about 2:30 p.m.

Moonlight Ski/Snowshoe at Murray Farm
The Cache Hikers will host winter moonlight excursion from the Murray Farm Trailhead on Saturday evening.  This is an easy snowshoe or moderate ski activity, about 3 miles with 500 feet of elevation, to a point overlooking Cache Valley.  Bring a headlamp/flashlight, warm drink and warm clothing. Meet 6:00 p.m. at the southwest corner of the Smith's Marketplace parking lot, 750 North Main Street, with an expected return by 11:00 p.m.

The Cache Hikers will host a winter trip to Tony Grove Creek on Sunday. This is a moderate snowshoe/cross-country ski activity, about 5 miles round trip with 900 feet of elevation as we follow Tony Grove Creek along an old roadway, with an expected return about 3:00 p.m.
