2026 Summer Activity Schedule
Summer trips are scheduled from mid-May to early October. Visitors are welcome! Meet 8:00 a.m. at the southwest corner of the Smith's Marketplace parking lot at 750 North Main Street in Logan, Utah unless specified otherwise. The trip leader determines the anticipated return time and any need to alter plans, if necessary. Prepare for the activity: Bring food, water, and extra clothing. Make sure your equipment is adequate and that you have the skill and stamina necessary for the trip. Contact the trip leader for more information about the trip. Little
Cottonwood – Maughan Hollow |
The
Cache Hikers will host a hike up the Little Cottonwood
drainage on Sunday. This is a moderate 5-mile loop hike
with some off-trail travel and about 1000 feet of
elevation gain. Located in the Right Hand Fork of Logan
Canyon, hikers will enjoy spring wildflowers and great
views as they travel up Little Cottonwood Canyon and
return via Maughan Hollow, with an expected return about
3:00 p.m. |

Maple Creek - Crooked Creek | The
Cache Hikers will host a hike from the Maple Creek
trailhead east of Franklin, Idaho, on Sunday. This is a
moderate 4.5-mile hike with about 900 feet of ascent and
1500 descent. Hikers can expect plenty of spring
wildflowers as they travel south via Indian Flats to
Crooked Creek, then down to the Crooked Creek trailhead
with a 2.5-mile car shuttle back to the Maple Creek
trailhead, with an expected return about 4:00 p.m. |

Farm Loop |
The
Cache Hikers will host a Sunday hike from the Murray
Farm Trailhead near Wellsville. This is a moderate
5-mile loop hike with 1400 feet of ascent. Expect
wildflowers and scenic vistas as we travel up one canyon
and down another. Bring food, plenty of water, appropriate
clothing, with an expected return about 3:00 p.m. |

Hollow. This is a moderately strenuous hike with

Blind Hollow to Nielsons
Well on Sunday.
This is a moderately strenuous hike to a deep
sinkhole, about 6.5 miles round trip with1900 feet of
ascent. Expect early
summer wildflowers along the way and an impressive
geological feature at the
destination with an expected return about 4:00 p.m. |

Creek - Cottonwood |
The Cache Hikers will host a hike up the
Willow
Creek drainage on Sunday. This is a moderate
6.5-mile
loop hike with about 1100 feet of elevation gain.

summer wildflowers and great
views as they travel up Willow Creek and return via

Crimson
Trail |
The
Cache Hikers will host a hike along the Crimson
Trail on Sunday. This Cache Valley classic is a
moderate 5-mile loop hike with 1000 feet elevation gain.
Expect wildflowers and possible wildlife sightings, with
views of Logan Canyon and the Wind Caves from the top of
the China Wall limestone cliff and a pleasant walk along
Logan River. Expect to return about 2:00 p.m |

Jardine
Juniper |
The
Cache Hikers will host a hike to the Jardine
Juniper on Sunday. This moderately strenuous 10-mile
hike follows the Old Juniper Trail from the Wood Camp
Trailhead, gradually gaining 2000 feet to the famous
1500-year-old tree. Expect wildflowers, great views and an
iconic destination and expect to return about 3:00 p.m. |

Bunchgrass Ridge | The
Cache Hikers will host a hike in Bunchgrass
Canyon on Sunday. This is a moderate hike of about
6.5 miles with 1200 feet of ascent. The route is a
“lollipop” (a loop with a stem), mostly along unmaintained
trails, with great views and impressive old limber pines.
From the Tony Grove gravel pit, the route goes west along
Bunchgrass Creek, then north on the White Pine Lake Trail
before turning east and south to follow a ridge back to
Bunchgrass. Expect to return about 3:00 p.m |

Lake |
The
Cache Hikers will host a Sunday hike from Stump Hollow to
Horse Lake (Utah). Horse lake is a sink/depression
at about 8600’ and near the highest point in the area
above Peter Sinks. It is likely to be dry due to the
extremely low snowfall this winter. This will be a
moderately strenuous loop hike of about 8 miles with 1800’
of elevation gain. Return will be via an unofficial
trail and the old Garden City Road. Expect great
views from the ridge of the Bear River Range as well as
Bear Lake to the east and expect to return about 5:00 p.m. |

| 10-11-12 July 2026, (Friday - Sunday) | Mount
Gog Meadow Hike/Backpack |
The
Cache Hikers will host an outing that follows the White
Pine Lake Trail to a seldom used route SE
of Mount Gog on Friday, with a backpacking option
for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This is a
moderately strenuous day-hike of about 7.5 miles and 1400
ft of ascent. The group will have lunch together and the
day-hikers will return to Tony Grove. The backpackers will
continue following the route another mile to a meadow near
the Double-Top Trail. This mile may have downed trees and
other off-trail challenges. Backpackers prepare for a
2-night, 3-day excursion with an optional day hike from
the basecamp on Saturday. Day hikers expect to return
about 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. |

Temple
Spring |
The
Cache Hikers will host a Sunday out-and-back hike to
Temple Spring. This is a moderate hike of about 8
miles with 1300 feet of ascent. Those that want a
shorter hike can turn around at the historic Temple Fork
sawmill site. That is an easy hike of about 5.5
miles with 700 ft. of ascent. Expect wildflowers and
beaver dams along the way, with an expected return about
3:00 – 4:30 p.m. depending on the distance hiked. |

Canyon Loop |
The
Cache Hikers will host a hike to Card
Canyon on Sunday. This is a moderately
strenuous 6-mile loop hike with 2200 feet of ascent.
Expect scenic views, wildflowers, unusual aquatic
creatures and an interesting rock feature along the way.
End expect to return about 4:00 p.m. |

7-Sisters
Ridge |
The
Cache hikers will host a hike to the “7 -Sisters” ridge on
Sunday. This is a moderately strenuous hike, about 10
miles round trip with about 1900 ft of climb and 600 ft of
descent to the turn-around point (the third “sister”).
Starting at Tony Grove Backcountry Trailhead, the route
passes through forest, past Coldwater Spring, into open
subalpine meadows, past the trail to Smithfield Canyon,
and up the ridge north of Mt. Elmer to an elevation of
about 9200 ft. The ridge route is off-trail. Expect to
return about 4:00 p.m |

Grand
Teton NP Camping |
The Cache Hikers
will host a 3-night
(Thurs-Sun) camping trip to Grand Teton National Park in
Wyoming. Our base camp
will be Group Site B in the Gros Ventre Campground as we
explore Park trails,
lakes and sights. The camping fee will be divided by the
participants. Space
limited. Reservations required. |

Maple
Creek |
The
Cache Hikers will host a hike from the Maple Creek
trailhead near Franklin, Idaho, on Sunday, with options
for a shorter hike to a spring or a longer hike to the
ridge. The spring hike is a moderate 5-mile round
trip with 800 feet of ascent. Hikers may continue to
the ridge near Wilderness Peak, a strenuous 11-mile round
trip hike with 3600 feet of ascent. Hikers should be
prepared for water crossings up to knee deep for both hike
options. Expect to return about 4:00 p.m. or 6:00

Corral
Hollow – Horse Lake |
The
Cache Hikers will host a Sunday out-and-back hike from
Corral Hollow on Franklin Basin Road to Horse Lake in
Gibson Basin, Idaho. This is a moderate hike, about 8
miles round trip with about 1400 feet of elevation gain.
We will hike up Corral Hollow, join the Highline Trail and
then join and follow the Sink Hollow Trail to Horse
Lake. Bring insect repellent because the area is
notorious for biting flies in mid-to-late summer. Expect
to return about 5:00 p.m. |

Fork – Peter Sinks |
The Cache Hikers will host a Sunday
out-and-back hike from Burnt
Fork to Peter Sinks.
This is a moderate hike of about 6.8 miles and
1000’ of elevation gain.
Peter Sinks is a unique and extreme example of cold-air
pool formation. We
will visit some key points at the sinks
including the lower weather station, the north lobe to
south lobe spillover
gap, the lowest location in the Sinks and the
approximate cold-pool spillover
location(s) on the east side ridge. Expect to
return about 5:00 p.m. |

moderate hike about 5 miles and 1900 feet of ascent, with
